Meaning and Action

Break out of the mold (or mould? - which one is which).

Language can be used in so many different ways, but language in itself is void. The letters and words I type here are in themselves meaningless. I don't want to rehash very simple ideas, yet the only reason why something is meaningful is because it is observed by someone, you perhaps. You and the stimuli create/find the meaning together.

The debate about creating meaning and discovering it is difficult. Who's to say? I don't think it matters - meaning is meaningful to someone, propels someone, inspires someone, so why should we have to think about it?

Beauty - that's the thing I want to explore more. What is beauty? Is it something to do with pattern recognition? I think so, as our whole mental hardware is built upon that function, so anything that the mind acquaints itself with must be fundamentally related to pattern recognition. But more than that - what specifically about it generates this feeling of awe? Why is nature beautiful? Why isn't an iPhone (typically)? I'll immerse myself in this world for a bit and then return here to elaborate and get to familiarize myself with what I have learned. As in the last post I mentioned - it is only in the doing of something, specific things, that you learn about it. And getting to know my mind, at least my mind, needs an external surface/environment to communicate with itself. For me, internal pondering doesn't go far enough. For me, external action, external proofs of my mind making itself known, are potent, and lead to deep-seated and far-reaching change. More of that, always.
